November – This is an exciting month. The county will be taking bids on the first of the Stabilization of the Courthouse project. These bids will be for installing heat and air-conditioning systems. The engineer has designed three units to be installed – one for the left 1st floor wing, a second one for the rest of the 1st floor and a third one for the 2nd floor. Bids are to be submitted by November 18th. After the HVAC is installed, we will then proceed with having the walls and ceilings repaired and painted, and making three restrooms functional. More restoration projects will be undertaken as our funds will allow. We are hoping some of the work can be done by volunteers. If you or anyone else you know are interested in helping with this project, please contact me. (See “Contact Us”.).
The Educational Committee is looking forward to hosting visits from the seven MHC After 3 Clubs. They will receive a tour of the courthouse, hear about the history of the county and its courthouses, and learn about the function of the courtroom. They will, also, learn about the importance of preservation and how the courthouse will be restored.
Be sure to attend our November 22nd meeting. (See Current Events.) Craig “Rocky” Rockwell and his wife, Carolyn, will be portraying William Clark and his wife. Clark not only made a significant contribution to our country in his exploration of the West, but he had tremendous influence on all of western history. Please come and bring a friend.
